Walled city of Siena

Everywhere we went in Italy there was fog....as a photographer I felt that there was some divine intervention happening....as it makes for such beautiful lighting and mood. This was a stones throw from our B&B.
f 7.1 1/640 ISO 400 on a 50mm lens, shot at about 8am.

This second shot has been Photoshopped. My photo buddy SD has been teaching me about 'Levels' and 'High Pass Sharpening' and here is a practice piece. Which do you like better? Different feels to them!

  1. woops!

I knew it would come to this.

foggy photos are usually quite boring and the first one is just that.

The second version is giving me some feelings.

Mysterious foggy photos are not usually boring and this is an example of the subject.

good use of the tech you say you know nothing about.

talk about an improvement, no chicken exposure here, the contrast is great, clarity is good, the sense of depth with the graduation in the fog effect is astounding and shows off the great lighting in a very cute way. < ha! I use cute instead of nice >

good job K sure looks like you where listening after all.

  2. forgot to say that the modified photo also removes a lot of the attention from the foreground plants and this is a good point, as they where adding nothing to it.
