Fiddleheads

I decided not to put these little guys in the compost quite yet. They were a casualty of my gardening zeal today.

Iris's after the rain

A photo shoot at Government House in between showers. These miniature Iris were tucked up against a rock wall.

On a recent trip to Boston I was fascinated with all the beautiful doors and windows.

Dogs Of Province Town

I'm back!
I've been on a few different tangents with my photography over the last few years. I've learned new skills behind the camera, in front of the computer using Lightroom, dealing with clients, volunteering. It's all been good!
I kind of strayed away from, what shall we call it, my photographic soul. And that's where my focus here will be, sharing what moves me, some experimental, some good, some not as much :).  I've decided to stop sharing my photos on Face Book for reasons political and otherwise, they look better here anyway.
There will be photos of our recent trip to New York City and Cape Cod, portraits, flowers, food, Impressionistic, series, children, and of course lots of dogs, they are my favourite subject!

Here are some dogs of Province Town on Cape Cod. The most dog friendly place we've ever been. Province Town is a gem. Full of art galleries, dogs and so gay...we loved it!

Cabbage Curves

I have always had a fascination with cabbage, as a cook and as a photographer. So much beauty in this humble vegetable.

Dexter's Bad Hair Day

It's very hard to capture Dexter, he's always in a good sized pack of dogs and he's never, never still. He was doing the walk and shake.

A Study in Golden and Grey

We had a great photo shoot at Macauley Park yesterday, we made the flat light work for us. Rain is a certified service dog, she brings so much quality of life to her owner with her winning personality and ability to execute at least 60 different commands ( my dog knows 5).As you can see she works well with the camera. All these shots are shot in manual at f 8.0. I was experimenting with both of those settings and did barely any editing afterwards in Lightroom 4.0.

Let's just go walking in the rain.

I'm going to take another stab at my Blog. I was posting on Facebook but that was a less than perfect way of sharing.

Yesterday I went on a photo shoot with a friend and we happened upon Dallas Rd....on our way to lunch.....I got my best shots of the day from inside the car with the rain on the car window. I especially love this one for it's dreamy quality and the subtlest amount of colour in the foreground...this is not Photoshopped except to add the text .

The Music Man

I normally am not much for photo manipulation...a few tweaks here and there to jazz it up a bit...but here is a bit more than a tweak. My son is a musician and I love to pretend I'm shooting album covers when I can get his co-operation. Here he is sitting on his guitar case in a field in East Sooke Park.

Bouquet

Photographed in natural light with a black background. Yellow isn't an easy colour to get detail and avoid highlights , this took quite a few tries to get it right.

My newest subject matter.........the most delightful granddaughter ever... introducing Little Miss Molly.

I know this is cliche but......had to be done.
