The Music Man

I normally am not much for photo manipulation...a few tweaks here and there to jazz it up a bit...but here is a bit more than a tweak. My son is a musician and I love to pretend I'm shooting album covers when I can get his co-operation. Here he is sitting on his guitar case in a field in East Sooke Park.

Photographed in natural light with a black background. Yellow isn't an easy colour to get detail and avoid highlights , this took quite a few tries to get it right.

I'm not going to add the shooting details, if people are interested in them I'm happy to put them up but I think I'll just post some of my favourite photos and say why. If you'd like to know ISO, f-stop etc just let me know.
I love the solitude of this photo and I love trees, especially when they are losing their leaves or have none. Plus the subtle fence line adds another element to move your eye through the photograph. 
This was taken out at Devonian Park in Metchosin yesterday.

I belong to a Flickr group called "Our Daily Challenge"...every day we have a different theme and the photo must be taken and uploaded that day. This picture was taken for "Out of Balance". It's a great group of people, some very talented, and it makes you look at things in a different way, get out of your comfort zone, and take photos of things you'd never dreamed of photographing. I love it! And I hate it when I have to miss days because I'm too busy.

Samson in the Fog

I absolutely love white on white...and here is a white dog, named Samson, in the fog. The texture of his fur and the fact that you can see the detail in his eyes is what makes this photo. Samson is a stunning dog, beautiful personality and so ponderous. It makes it so much easier to photograph when a dog will pose willingly.

Waiting in the Rain

Finn

This is Finn a Cairn Terrier that I took some shots of the other day. I donated a photo shoot to a charity raising money for a baby with some pretty serious health problems. Finn hated the flash and most of my shots are from the side but here is one that he looked straight at the camera for. Such a sweet disposition and so cute!
