Shot this at Thetis Lake today. There are billions of Trilliums out there in every configuration you can imagine. The light was not so great and I didn't have my tripod. This was handheld with my 50mm lens f 1.8 1/250 ISO 100.

Grass Series #1
I find grass infinitely interesting to photograph. So may colours, textures, personalities....yes, I did write personalities!! I'm a gardener as well as a photographer.
Shot at f 8.0 1/40 -0.33 ISO 100 WB of 'cloudy'.

White
I love white!
Here is a shot from a shoot I did with Penny today at Government House. The wind was blowing these delicate blossoms all over the place but we persisted and I managed to get this shot at a fast shutter speed.
Shot at f 4.0 1/2000 ISO 800.
Spring has sprung at Government House!

March Rain
Shot out at Island View Beach, late afternoon in the pouring rain from my car window. I love this tree. This isn't the first time I've shot it...I have quite a few. This photo captures the mood I was going for, melancholic.
Shot in RAW at f 4.0 1/640 -0.67 ISO 400 in the rain. Tweaked a bit in PS...WB and sharpened.
My friend Mimi suggested converting it to B&W so I have posted that along with it. The tree looks more interesting with a lighter sky in the B&W....the 'rain' feel is gone though

Yellow Tulip
Shot at f 4.0 1/500 +0.33 ISO 100. Natural light from a north window. Adjusted levels in PS and high pass sharpening. In the future I'll move to a deeper depth of field on these flower shots. No tripod on this one...lazy me...I just saw this lovely light , grabbed my camera and some reflectors and started shooting.

Seamus
He isn't Irish but his name is. Here is Seamus a 9 month old Black Lab with his Dad behind him. He's got a bit of the Devil in him but adorable none the less.
Shooting black dogs ain't easy. Well I have to say shooting dogs isn't easy period. Black dogs and white dogs are a challenge. I used AEB ( automatic exposure bracketing) 1 full stop to get this exposure and then adjusted the the mid tones in PS to get him perfectly black with the detail in his face....all that saliva!!!
Shot at f 4.0 1/100 ISO 400 on a cloudy day with my 70-200 zoom on 106.0mm.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Daffodil fields
This shot was taken 6 days after the "Snow Day" post...this is what Victoria usually looks like in March. It was pouring rain when I took this shot.
Shot at f 8.0 1/125 ISO 400.

Walled city of Siena
Everywhere we went in Italy there was fog....as a photographer I felt that there was some divine intervention happening....as it makes for such beautiful lighting and mood. This was a stones throw from our B&B.
f 7.1 1/640 ISO 400 on a 50mm lens, shot at about 8am.
This second shot has been Photoshopped. My photo buddy SD has been teaching me about 'Levels' and 'High Pass Sharpening' and here is a practice piece. Which do you like better? Different feels to them!

Samson
Taken today at the dog park...this is Samson, a 10 month old Samoyed. He is such a funny dog and a good friend to Beau, our Yellow Lab puppy. There'll be more photos of Samson as he is so photogenic.
Shot at f 4.0 1/2000 ISO 400 and converted to B&W in Photoshop.

Nice, France
I love the relationship captured here between this man and his dog...I would have loved to have gotten closer but I only had my 50mm lens with me. He seemed to be in his own world, we passed him twice during the evening, he was sitting here for a very long time.
Shot at f 3.5 1/160 ISO 400 in the early evening.

Snow Day
This was taken today just outside Victoria. Snow in Victoria in March!!! This is one of the horses belonging to VRDA (Victoria Riding for the Disabled Association). My friend was riding in a competition under the covered ring and when it started to snow I ran over to the barn and quickly snapped some horses in the snow shots.
This is f 4.0 1/1600 ISO 1600. The ISO is so high because I had been shooting in the riding ring which has very poor lighting and in my glee at seeing the horses in the snow I forgot to change my ISO. It worked just fine though.

Yellow
I love the look, colour, smell, cooking with... absolutely everything about lemons.
Shot at f 4.0 1/50 ISO 100 on a tripod, natural light from a south facing window. A bit of soft focus on the edges in photoshop, a crop, border and text.
I'm going to do a series of lemon photos so stay tuned.

Paris Showrooms @ Luz Gallery
There is a show at the Luz Gallery(on Fort Street) presently called Paris Showrooms. Well this showroom that I photographed in October is one that the photographer, Vikky Alexander, portrays in one of her photos. I was so excited when I gazed in the window tonight and saw it. Her shot is a slightly different angle with a bit more street reflection, although you can see in the mirror some street reflection in mine as well. I believe she was there photographing this show just a few weeks before we were there. I also saw the other showrooms that are part of her show, which is pretty wild when you think about the size of Paris and we were only there 2 days.
The last couple of days I have felt like packing it in as a photographer, so frustrated with the plateau I seem to be living on...and when I saw this shot in a gallery show I took it as a 'sign'.
This was shot at f8.0 1/400 ISO 800.......through glass of course.
